tool, dave's wedding, hemp farming, moving

crazy weekend...yes that is jeremy feeding a dinosaur. they let them out to roam some days at the calgary zoo, although it's rare to get such a spectacular view of them in their near-native habitat...

damned right! they had lazer beams!

all to race back for dave and amanda roman's wedding, pictures done by yours truly...after a 9.5 hour drive after the tool concert, despite the apparent lack of lazer beams, the wedding was still exciting, followed by a great party involving chilean dancers, mocktails, and a continuous lineup of air-bands and delicious chilean food (and beatniks, not so chilean, but just as delicious...)
spent the night out at the binns' homestead...i've fallen in love with the area and am convinced if one were to put the effort into planting a good solid crop, one could make some money back...and that wonderful crop is hemp...anyone wanna do some share croppin'?
kat and i have decided it's time for a change and are moving out of our house at the end of next month...maybe it's a sign that we are also coincidentally finished our jobs at the end of september...stay tuned...

Woah, a month went by and i barely had time to...

It was a good trip my friends. I apologize for the lack of posting on this board over the past few weeks. The more busy I get, the first thing that suffers is my ability to spend much time on the internet, I don't think I've been on MSN longer than an hour or two in the last month. A lot has happened in the last three weeks. I went canoeing up north again with friends, and it was great. All the pics I took are up at my Shutterfly account, so check 'em out, Steve D will supposedly have his up soon as well, when that happens, I will post a link to it as well.
We took another trip out to Lake Diefenbaker this past weekend, camping in Douglas Provincial Park. A great place to go chill out and do some hiking (or biking). There are a couple of great hiking paths, as well, we found a secluded beach at the end of the beaten path, beautiful, bigger than the family beach, and way more topless sunbathers.
The excitement doesn't cease there my friends, three more days and we're off to Calgary to see Tool. I have a good idea of what to expect, however, I look forward to seeing the new stadium show. I've gotten glimpses and previews, but it doesn't become real until we're sitting in the arena formerly known as the Saddledome, waiting for the band to come on.
Then we race back to small town Saskatchewan to catch Dave and Amanda's wedding. I'm pumped about that as well. Did I think that Dave would be the one getting married before me? No, but the more I get to know Amanda, the more I realize that the two of them will make a happily married couple. So be there or be fuckin' square!
I know I should post more about the canoe trip, but if I write about it here, what are we gonna talk about the next time we see each other? HUH? Tell me that?!?
Couple cool things coming up in the next month or so. I'm sending in my entry form for the "One-take Super8" festival. A short film festival where they give you one roll of super8 film, a camera, and send you off for a month. They show the entire roll, head to tail, and you don't get to see it til it gets shown. Exciting...one take, could be crap, could be gold.
Check this out, I'm doing a mentorship project through the filmpool again this year. It's called the 60-second cinema scholarship. You wanna learn how to shoot motion picture film, and edit? Apply! You take a whole bunch of workshops, pre-production, lighting, camera, etc.. (lighting taught by yours truly)...the film is included, the processing is included. A great little course to further your artistic ambitions.
Check it out at the Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative webpage.
That's all for now, I'll throw some more pics and videos up as they get uploaded.
peace out homies
rob
