catoptromancy
lot of work this week, out in rouleau commencing the fourth season of c-gas, long, hard days, counting down the minutes waiting to get out of here...to vancouver the first part of my hiatus, which is the tail end of july, then to Four Portages Bay to Missinippe for the remaining week in august. i hope it to be an exciting summer...
cool shit:
- worked just under 80 hours this week, 15.5 of which were on a film called "The Messengers"...this is a movie which shot here last summer, which at the time was titled "Scarecrow", directed by The Pang brothers, it is guaranteed to be absolutely terrifying. the reshoots are destined to make the film much cooler. i can't ruin anything though, but there were some intensely wicked horror lighting setups...it was fun hanging out on a feature film set again, challenging and interesting work...
- what was a four day weekend has turned into a three-day weekend...not really relevant to this list of "cool" shit...
- fatal frame III, PS2 game, japanese horror...freaky, and fun, you take pictures of ghosts rather than shoot them...but for some reason it's still just as scary...
-planted an herb garden, inspired by jeremy of course, and it sprouted today...i should have my own chamomile tea in about two months ... what ever, it seemed like a good idea :)...
-reconnected with an old film school friend who i haven't seen in about 2 years, it's good running into felllow alumni and see that a few are starting to move forward in their careers...jaco has started up a commercial printing business, coupled with design on all fronts...this is the man who i worked with on a few projects in university, and despite his racial handicap (south african), he graduated the class after me, 2005...you may remember this man as the gracious host of my 4th year wrap party, aka the "drink a keg in two hours, play soccer with a big ball of duct tape, then go home and pass out in exaustion" party...
aside from all the cool things happening in my life (just imagine that said with a spice of sarcasm), i've been getting more and more geared up to start pitching my own shit, the documentary idea is within pitching distance, all i need is to put on the polish and start making appointments.
catoptromancy - the art of divination through mirrors, cool word, and though you've probably never heard it before, now you'll hear it all the time...
